For cost-effective 400G optical interconnects in Slovakia, QSFP-DD AOCs and DACs provide high performance for short-range data center applications while minimizing power and CAPEX.Short-Range Cost-Eff...
QSFP-DD Active Optical Cables (AOCs) are ideal for short-range, high-bandwidth interconnects up to 70 meters over OM3 fiber. These modules integrate eight data channels, each capable of 53.125 Gbps, providing a total of 400G throughput. They are hot-pluggable, compact, and compatible with standard QSFP-DD ports, making them suitable for data centers and enterprise networks where cost-per-bit efficiency is critical. Direct-attached copper (DAC) cables are also available as a lower-cost alternative for very short distances, offering reduced installation complexity compared to fiber assemblies (C-FLINK technology) .
For metro or regional interconnects, 400G QSFP-DD ZR+ coherent transceivers support long-haul and metro IP over DWDM without inline chromatic dispersion compensation. These modules use DP-16QAM modulation, provide tunable C-band DWDM, and maintain a compact QSFP-DD form factor (~18.35 mm × 93.26 mm × 8.5 mm). They are hot-pluggable, power-efficient (21–23W typical), and compliant with OIF QSFP-DD MSA standards, making them suitable for scalable, high-capacity links while controlling operational costs .
The 400G optical market remains the volume workhorse for data centers, AI clusters, and carrier networks, offering the best balance of bandwidth, cost-per-bit, and power efficiency. QSFP-DD modules are preferred for brownfield deployments due to backward compatibility with 100G QSFP28 ports, enabling gradual upgrades without replacing existing switches . OSFP modules offer higher thermal headroom but at slightly higher cost and footprint.
