Material Selection

For fire-resistant applications, hot-dip galvanized steel and stainless steel trays are preferred due to their excellent fire resistance, mechanical strength, and corrosion protection . Indoor installations may use painted steel or galvanized trays, while outdoor or high-humidity environments benefit from stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized trays . Surfaces can be coated with fire-retardant paint to slow flame spread and increase heat resistance .

Routing and Layout

  • Align with building structure to avoid unnecessary crossings or detours.
  • Shortest and straightest paths reduce cable loss and simplify maintenance.
  • Segregate power and signal cables using dedicated trays to minimize electromagnetic interference .
  • Maintain adequate clearance between cables to prevent heat accumulation and allow airflow, using perforated or wire mesh trays where possible .

Fireproofing and Firestopping

  • Install fire barriers within trays to isolate different fire zones.
  • Seal wall and floor penetrations with fire-rated materials such as firestop packs, mineral wool, or firestop mastic to prevent flame, smoke, and heat spread .
  • For large openings, use a fire-resistant backing plate before sealing, ensuring gaps do not exceed 1 cm² and packing thickness is at least 24 cm .
  • Ensure all seals are tight, complete, and free of cracks or voids .

Installation and Maintenance

  • Suspend use and inspect immediately if any abnormalities such as deformation or corrosion are detected .

Heat Dissipation
