OM3 Fiber Color Identification

OM3 is a laser-optimized 50/125 µm multimode fiber designed for high-speed networks using VCSELs, supporting 10, 40, or 100 Gb/s over short distances (up to 300 meters at 10G) . The standard jacket color for OM3 is aqua (hex: #00B6C1), which helps technicians quickly identify the fiber type in patch panels, cable trays, or splice closures .

Ring Markings for High-Count Cables

For cables containing more than 12 fibers, ring markings are applied to individual fibers to differentiate them within a bundle. This is often done according to IEC or DIN standards, where fibers 13-24 receive an additional ring marking to maintain proper identification in hybrid or high-density cables .
