Restart the OLT optical module

Restarting an OLT optical module involves checking the port status, enabling the laser if disabled, and performing a board or port reset if necessary.

Step 1: Check the PON Port Status

Before restarting, verify the status of the optical module:

• Run the command display port state or display port info on Huawei OLTs to check the PON port status, including laser state and TX power levels .
• Ensure the optical module type matches the network standard (GPON or EPON). Incorrect module types may require replacement .

Step 2: Enable the Laser

If the laser is disabled:

• Use the command port laser-switch enable to turn on the laser on the PON port .
• Confirm that the Admin State is set to "On" and the TX power is within the normal range (1.5–5.0 dBm for GPON), .

Step 3: Reset the Board or Port

If the port or board is faulty:

• Run display board to check the board status .
• If the board status is abnormal, execute board reset to restart the board or move it to another slot .
• If the fault persists, consider replacing the optical module or the board .

Step 4: Verify ONU Connectivity

After restarting the optical module:

• Check that connected ONUs are online using ont activate or similar commands .
• Monitor optical power levels to ensure proper signal reception and transmission .

• For TP-Link OLTs, access the device via CLI using a console or Telnet session, then execute the relevant commands to manage the PON port .
